The ERP implementation plan needs to be precise and carried out in different phases so as to ensure that it is totally effective. Usually, such a project comes in six phases. There is the planning and discover, designing, development, phase of testing, the deployment and then ongoing support. The process is rather iterative and sometimes the above phases may overlap and you may move back and forth in between the different phases.

This is a phase that is used so as to prepare the system. This has to do with various activities such as customizations, the development of the user trainings and the importation of data. When dealing with an ERP implementation plan, you need to solve problems and look at the entire development phase for precision.
Testing is another very important phase of the ERP implementation plan. You need to determine whether the functionality of the system concurs with the requirements that had been set for the project at hand. Testing and development often overlap. The team may deal with the two at the same time, so as to fine tune the entire configuration.
The implementation team has the role of assessing the entire situation so as to make the very final decision on whether the system is ready to go or not. Before the project goes live, final data have to be validated after loading. The team needs to offer employee training so that they maybe able to work within the new system and completely switch from the old system.
This is an ongoing process after the ERP implementation plan. After the project has been completed and gone live, the team purpose shifts completely. The way users work as the system keeps on evolving and changes and adjustments need to be made to the system configuration from time to time.
It is important to appreciate the fact that the ERP implementation plan is not an easy feat. Implementations need money and time to be effective. Never define the implementation as an installation that is technical because you may expect it to be simple and it may really disappointing in the long run.
